Welcome to my projects page. Feel free to view any of my projects by clicking through any of the tabs above!

Cats vs Dogs

This website was a midterm project for my Web Development 2 class and was the first project where I experimented with APIs. After completing the class, I revisited the project to make improvements. I felt that the original logo was not as sleek and modern as it could be, so that was the first thing I updated. Next, I aimed to make the website more customizable and interactive, so I created custom GIFs for the Cats and Dogs web pages. I also added confetti with JavaScript, so whenever a user loads one of these pages, confetti erupts on the screen. My intention was to create a fun website that cat and dog lovers could endlessly enjoy.

Fruit Factz

This was one of the first websites I created. The initial purpose was to experiment with CSS grids and flexbox. A secondary goal was to explore the possibilities of JavaScript, so I incorporated a pop-up and added a dark mode, which I thought was a neat use of JavaScript. I also integrated this dark mode setting into my portfolio website, which you are currently viewing. I have many more ideas for this site and hope to update it in the near future, similar to how I updated my Cats vs. Dogs website.

The purpose of Pixel Palz Arcade was to challenge myself to improve each of my previous mini-games so they could all follow a similar theme and be hosted on one website. Each mini-game implements JavaScript and is unique in its own way. I designed the website layout from scratch using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Every mini-game also includes characters and assets designed by me. All of my current mini-games are embedded below. Please check it out!

Windmill in Different Dimensions

This series of illustrations was inspired by a photo I took of a windmill in Ios, Greece. I challenged myself to create three illustrations of the windmill that depict it in different dimensions. The first dimension is Earth, the second is a sunny desert, and the third, contrasting the second, is a more colorful, cartoonish depiction of the moon, complete with colorful surrounding stars. These illustrations were created entirely in Adobe Illustrator.

Save the Manatees Flyer

The purpose of this flyer is to serve as an infographic about manatees. I decided to include some fun facts along with more serious information to raise awareness about how these marvelous animals are categorized as endangered. Hopefully, the more awareness this issue gains, the less likely it will be for manatees to face extinction. This flyer was created entirely in Adobe Illustrator.

Environmental Collages

When creating these collages, I considered the impact of our daily decisions on the environment. In the first collage, I focused on the excessive use of plastic in packaging everyday products like fruits and sodas, which often end up in the ocean, harming aquatic life. Despite efforts to reduce plastic waste, such as switching from plastic straws to compostable alternatives, much more can be done. The widespread use of plastic containers for fruits, for instance, still seems wasteful. This collage was also inspired by the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, an accumulation of discarded plastic in the ocean. For the second collage, I was inspired by the instability of the weather. Last year, New York saw barely any snow, while Texas experienced unusual snowfall in early 2021. Climate change, characterized by major shifts in temperature and weather patterns, is a likely cause. While some changes may be natural, the burning of fossil fuels significantly contributes to the Greenhouse Effect. This highlights the importance of pursuing renewable energy sources. These collages were created in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Sk8ter Icons

These illustrated icons of the pink skater girl and green skater boy were inspired by the original Xbox 360 profile picture named "Emo Hat Boy." I have always liked the aesthetic and era of 2000s digital designs, including this profile picture. However, I always wanted different color versions of it, so I decided to create them myself. These icons were created in Ibis Paint.

Popular Donuts Data Visualization

I thought of the idea to make a pie chart for donuts while working at a donut shop. I was curious to see what types of donuts college students would prefer, so I put together a survey with the help of Google Forms and asked some of my classmates to fill it out. Once I collected enough data, I input it into the Adobe Illustrator pie chart tool. I envisioned the pie chart to be shaped like a donut, so I utilized Illustrator's design tools to design each section as a specific donut flavor.

Pizza Party

Who doesn't love pizza? Whenever you think about pizza, you think about Fridays, good vibes, and parties! Pizza is associated with positivity. That is why I wanted to create an icon representing this iconic food. My intention was to create a minimalist pizza icon with a vibrant background to complement it.

Downtown Skyline

I was inspired to create an illustrated environment of the WTC in downtown Manhattan because I became interested in it at a young age when my uncle told me about its rebuilding. I remember seeing the concept art and plans for the complex and then watching its actual construction. I have always been fascinated by the building's design. In this illustrated environment, I started with a basic black outline and then filled the shapes with two-tone colors to achieve a gradient effect, which I felt made the illustration stand out. The first illustration was created entirely in Adobe Illustrator, but the following four were enhanced in Ibis Paint. In Ibis Paint, I created a thicker black outline for the illustrations and added background color. I also experimented with different brushes and lighting effects that Ibis Paint offers, such as the bubble and kaleidoscope brushes.

GIFs

As much as I love making illustrations, I also love the idea of animations because of the dynamic potential they can add to a still image. Here are a few short animations I created on Ibis Paint, which I converted into GIFs due to their length. I drew inspiration from retro video games, chibi art, and early internet GIFs.

2D Animations

The purpose of this project was to animate either a fairytale or a "Day in the Life" story. Initially, I considered doing a fairytale because I love them. However, I decided to challenge myself and chose the "Day in the Life" story. While brainstorming, I was sitting on my school's sky bridge and saw pigeons flying around outside. Since we live in NYC, I thought a day in the life of a pigeon would be the perfect story for my project! I quickly got to work, thinking of ways to animate my pigeon. I even took some videos of pigeons around the city to get an idea of how they move and fly. Originally, I ended the animation where the pigeon eats the leftover crumbs of pizza. However, I felt my project was unfinished, so I drew the downtown NYC skyline in Adobe Illustrator and added a part where the pigeon flies by the skyline. I also thought the ending would be better if I showed the pigeon flying to its nest, solidifying the "day in its life" theme. This project was animated using Adobe After Effects.

his was the first animation I created in Adobe After Effects using original assets I made in Adobe Illustrator. The purpose of this project was to animate an analogy of what home means to me. To me, home is my cozy resting place. It’s where I bake cookies, where my beloved cat, Mimi, lives, and where I grow and take care of my plants.

This was the first jointed figure and voice-syncing exercise I did in After Effects. The goal of this project was to animate this cat character saying Buzz Lightyear’s famous catchphrase, “To infinity, and beyond!”

The purpose of this project was to further practice animating a jointed figure and to animate light and shadow movement, all done in After Effects.

3D Animations & Models

This 3D model is based on my original design, created and rendered in Autodesk Maya. The model's rig was developed using Advanced Skeleton in Maya. Animation, effects, and audio were compiled in Adobe Premiere Pro.

This was one of the first 3D models I ever created in Autodesk Maya. The purpose of this project was to explore the vertices and faces tools and to become familiar with the Maya interface. A secondary goal was to learn about textures and lighting.

ArtBlock Prototype App

“ArtBlock” is a passion UI/UX project I undertook during a period of creative block. I often walk around and recently noticed a lot of street art, including stickers and murals. I was also really into “Pokémon Go” at the time and liked the idea of PokéStops. I thought, why not create an app dedicated to the world of street art, combined with a scavenger hunt? The name “ArtBlock” reflects both the literal context of street art (since another word for street is "block") and the idea of redefining the negative connotations of having an art block by embracing it through exploring a world of art.

One of the first major problems I considered was the potential for vandalism, as it is a crime. To address this, I came up with the idea of “VR” art, where users can create and view art in virtual reality rather than in the real world. This would allow people to engage with art without committing vandalism. As technology advances, VR headsets and glasses are becoming more common, making this concept increasingly feasible.
The “ArtBlock” standards manual was created in Adobe InDesign, with original assets, logos, and wireframes designed in Illustrator. The “ArtBlock” prototype app was developed in Adobe XD and Figma.

AnkhLave Arts Alliance Internship

AnkhLave Website

During my internship, I was primarily responsible for keeping the website up to date and secure. My daily tasks included adding new pages related to current events, which involved editing photos, videos, and text. I enhanced photos to make them more vibrant and included them in relevant posters. I also edited videos by improving both video and audio quality. Additional tasks included updating the website layout to be smartphone-friendly, changing the logo on each page and most posts due to a company rebrand, and ensuring the domain was both reachable and secure. Please check out more of the work I did during this internship below!
